In The Lord of the Rings, what is the name of Frodo's home village?

The story behind the answer

Frodo's home village in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings is Hobbiton.

Hobbiton is a settlement in the Shire, a peaceful region inhabited by hobbits. Frodo Baggins lives at Bag End, a comfortable hobbit-hole built into a hill overlooking the village. Bilbo Baggins also makes Bag End his home before and after his journey in The Hobbit.

Hobbiton is distinct from nearby places such as Bywater and Michel Delving. It is especially important because the story's opening events occur there: Bilbo's birthday party, his departure, and Gandalf's discovery that Frodo possesses the One Ring. In Tolkien's fictional geography, Hobbiton lies in the Westfarthing of the Shire.
