In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Link’s sister is named Aryll.
Aryll lives with Link and their grandmother on Outset Island in the Great Sea. At the beginning of the game, she lends Link her telescope so he can watch the gigantic Helmaroc King flying overhead. During the celebration of Link’s coming-of-age ceremony, the bird kidnaps Aryll and carries her to the Forsaken Fortress.
Aryll’s kidnapping gives Link a personal reason to leave Outset Island and begin his adventure. He joins forces with Tetra and her pirate crew, eventually discovering that Aryll is being held alongside other girls with pointed ears. Link rescues her after confronting the Helmaroc King, although Ganon’s forces remain the larger threat.
Aryll is sometimes confused with Tetra, Medli, or Makar because all are important allies in the game. Tetra is a pirate captain and Zelda’s incarnation, while Medli and Makar are sages from other parts of the Great Sea. Aryll is specifically Link’s younger sister.
