In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, how many Gold Skulltula tokens are there to collect?

The story behind the answer

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, there are 100 Gold Skulltula tokens to collect. Each token appears after Link defeats one of the game's special golden spiders, making the hunt one of Hyrule's major optional challenges.

The Gold Skulltula quest spans towns, fields, caves, and dungeons. Some spiders appear only at night, while others require Link to return as either Child Link or Adult Link. Players may need items such as the Fairy Slingshot, Boomerang, Bombs, or Longshot to defeat them or retrieve tokens from difficult positions.

The tokens are tied to the cursed family living in Kakariko Village's House of Skulltula. Returning with enough tokens transforms family members back into humans and earns rewards at milestones of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 tokens. Completing the full set of 100 unlocks the final recurring reward: a large Rupee.

The number can be confused with the reward thresholds, especially 50, because that is the last major intermediate milestone. However, 100 is the complete collectible total in both the original Nintendo 64 game and Ocarina of Time 3D.
