In "The Hunger Games" movies, who plays Katniss?
Answer
Jennifer Lawrence
Answer
Jennifer Lawrence
In “The Hunger Games” movies, Katniss Everdeen is played by Jennifer Lawrence.
Lawrence portrays Katniss across the original four-film series: “The Hunger Games” (2012), “Catching Fire” (2013), and “Mockingjay – Part 1” and “Part 2” (2014–2015). Katniss is a teenager from impoverished District 12 who volunteers to compete in the Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose.
Casting Lawrence was a major decision because Katniss had to be both physically capable and emotionally guarded. Director Gary Ross said her audition immediately demonstrated the character’s self-assurance and strength. Suzanne Collins, author of the novels, also supported the choice, saying Lawrence captured the essential qualities of the Katniss she had written.
Lawrence trained extensively for the role, including archery, combat, climbing, running, and parkour. Olympic archer Khatuna Lorig helped train her. A common mix-up is confusing Lawrence with Jennifer Lawrence’s co-stars: Josh Hutcherson plays Peeta Mellark, while Liam Hemsworth plays Gale Hawthorne.
