Edd Kimber was crowned the first winner of 'The Great British Bake Off' in series 1.
Kimber won the inaugural series in 2010 after competing in weekly challenges covering bread, cakes, biscuits, and pastries. He defeated Ruth Clemens and Miranda Gore Browne in the final, establishing the show's tradition of naming one overall champion after a series of themed bakes.
The program originally aired on BBC Two and was presented by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins. Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry served as the original judging team, evaluating contestants on taste, texture, appearance, and technical skill.
Viewers sometimes confuse Edd Kimber with winners from later eras, especially Nadiya Hussain, who won series 6. The program's series numbering also differs from the later Channel 4 period, but Kimber remains the winner of the first series.
