In Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s V for Vendetta, the totalitarian party is called Norsefire.
Norsefire is a fictional far-right, neo-fascist political party that rules the United Kingdom after a period of social collapse and political violence. Its government transforms Britain into a police state, using surveillance, propaganda, censorship, detention camps, and targeted persecution to maintain control.
The party’s name is sometimes confused with descriptions of its ideology. “Ultranationalist” describes a political outlook, not the party’s name, while Norsecorp and Firestorm are not the ruling organization in the graphic novel. Norsefire’s leadership is organized around a group known as “The Head,” with departments such as the Eye, Ear, Nose, Finger, and Mouth overseeing different functions of the regime.
The 2005 film adaptation also uses the name Norsefire, although some details differ between the comic and film. For example, the party’s leader is Adam Susan in the graphic novel and Adam Sutler in the film. The party name itself remains the canonical answer.
