In 'Brave New World', what is the name of the World Controller?

The story behind the answer

The World Controller in Brave New World is Mustapha Mond.

Mustapha Mond is the Resident World Controller of Western Europe, one of the ten regional leaders governing Aldous Huxley’s World State. Known formally as “His Fordship,” he represents the system’s highest authority in the novel and explains how its rulers maintain stability through conditioning, consumerism, caste divisions and the drug soma.

Mond is more complicated than a simple villain. He understands the value of art, religion, scientific inquiry and Shakespeare, but argues that these must be restricted because they can produce conflict, dissatisfaction or instability. In his debate with John the Savage, he defends social happiness and order at the cost of individual freedom and intellectual independence.

The other options are major characters but not World Controllers. Bernard Marx is an Alpha who feels alienated from society, Helmholtz Watson is a gifted writer, and John is the outsider raised on the Savage Reservation. The name Mustapha Mond also echoes Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and industrialist Alfred Mond.
