In the first Assassin's Creed video game, what is the name of the main assassin?
Answer
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Answer
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
The main assassin in the first Assassin's Creed video game is Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. He is a Syrian member of the Assassin Brotherhood and the playable historical character in the original 2007 game.
Altaïr's story takes place in 1191, during the Third Crusade. After failing a mission and losing his rank, he must eliminate a series of targets across cities including Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus. His missions gradually reveal a wider conflict involving the Templars and Pieces of Eden.
Altaïr is also important to the series' broader chronology. Later games and novels portray his leadership of the Brotherhood and his efforts to improve Assassin methods, including the development of the Codex.
Players sometimes confuse Altaïr with Ezio Auditore, the hero of Assassin's Creed II and its Renaissance-era sequels. Altaïr is the first game's protagonist; Ezio became the central character of the next major trilogy.
