In the film "Green Lantern," Hal Jordan defeats his main foe, Parallax, by luring the fear entity into the Sun. Parallax is an enormous cosmic being that feeds on fear and threatens Earth after escaping its prison.
Rather than overpowering Parallax through a direct physical attack, Hal uses his Green Lantern ring to create energy constructs and guide the creature away from Earth.
