In 'The Fifth Element', what is the name of the opera singer alien?
Answer
Diva Plavalaguna
Answer
Diva Plavalaguna
In “The Fifth Element,” the opera singer alien is Diva Plavalaguna. She is a blue-skinned extraterrestrial performer whose concert becomes one of the film’s most memorable sequences.
Diva Plavalaguna appears at the floating opera house in Fhloston Paradise, where she performs for an elite audience. Her performance is interrupted by the Mangalores, who attack the venue while searching for the four elemental stones. She hides the stones inside her body before the attack, helping Korben Dallas and Leeloo recover them after she is mortally wounded.
The singing heard in the film was performed by Albanian soprano Inva Mula, whose voice was combined with the on-screen performance by Maïwenn Le Besco. The aria begins with music from Gaetano Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor,” while the rapid, otherworldly vocal section was created and edited to suggest abilities beyond an ordinary human singer.
Viewers sometimes confuse Diva Plavalaguna with Leeloo, the film’s central alien heroine, or with Ruby Rhod, the flamboyant radio host. Zorg is another major character, but he is the villain and not the opera performer.
