CBC first broadcast the Canadian television series Dragons' Den.
The Canadian version premiered in 2006 on CBC Television. It adapted the same international investment-pitch format: entrepreneurs present a product or company, name the funding they want, and offer an ownership stake to one or more Dragons.
Dianne Buckner served as the original host and remained strongly associated with the Canadian edition. The programme helped introduce Canadian entrepreneurs and investors to audiences across the country, while preserving the dramatic negotiations that define the franchise.
Canada's series should not be confused with the UK programme, even though both use the Dragons' Den title. The Canadian show has its own hosts, investor line-ups and business stories. CBC is Canada's public broadcaster, making it distinct from commercial networks such as CTV and Global.
