In the British TV show Dragon's Den, who was the first female investor to appear as a regular Dragon?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh was the first female investor to appear as a regular Dragon on the British TV show Dragon's Den.

Elnaugh joined the original panel when the programme launched in 2005. She was known for her entrepreneurial background and for co-founding Red Letter Days, a company selling experience gifts such as driving, leisure and entertainment packages.

Her presence made her an important part of the original line-up, which also featured Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe. Elnaugh left the programme after its first series, and Deborah Meaden later became one of the show’s most recognisable female Dragons.

The wording matters because several women have appeared as Dragons. Kelly Hoppen and Sara Davies joined much later, while Meaden is often the first female investor many viewers remember because of her long tenure. Elnaugh is the correct answer for the first regular female Dragon in the British series.
