Tom Pellereau created the Stylfile range of curved nail files featured on the British TV show Dragon's Den.
Pellereau pitched his invention as a nail-care product designed to make filing easier and more effective. The distinctive curved shape was intended to follow the natural contour of a fingernail, giving the product a clear physical difference from a conventional flat file.
Deborah Meaden invested in the business after the pitch. Pellereau later became a familiar example of a Dragon's Den entrepreneur whose product was based on a simple, demonstrable design improvement rather than a complicated piece of technology.
Stylfile is easy to confuse with Tangle Teezer because both are memorable product pitches and both became successful consumer brands. Tangle Teezer was invented by Shaun Pulfrey and concerns hair detangling; Stylfile was created by Pellereau and concerns nail care.
