Shaun Pulfrey invented the Tangle Teezer detangling hairbrush featured on the British TV show Dragon's Den.
Pulfrey was a professional hair colourist who developed the brush after becoming interested in reducing the pulling and breakage associated with detangling hair. He pitched the product on Dragon's Den, but the televised appearance did not immediately produce the outcome he wanted.
The Tangle Teezer later became a major commercial success, selling internationally and expanding into several brush designs. Its success is often cited as a reminder that a television pitch is not the same thing as the complete business story. A product can grow after a difficult or unsuccessful presentation.
The inventor is sometimes confused with Tom Pellereau, another Dragon's Den entrepreneur associated with a successful physical product. Pellereau developed the Stylfile nail-care range, whereas Pulfrey created the Tangle Teezer.
