The British TV show Dragon's Den first premiered on BBC Two in 2005.
The programme debuted on 4 January 2005, bringing entrepreneurs before a panel of wealthy investors who could offer money in return for a stake in their businesses. Its format was adapted for British television from the Japanese programme Money Tigers.
BBC Two was the BBC channel traditionally associated with factual entertainment, documentaries and specialist programming, making it a natural home for the business-pitch format. Dragon's Den later became one of the channel's best-known factual entertainment series.
The show is sometimes confused with the US series Shark Tank, but Dragon's Den is the title used by the British and several international versions. The two programmes share a broad premise but are separate adaptations and productions.
