The British TV show Dragons' Den premiered on BBC Two in 2005.
The programme first aired in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2005. It adapted the format in which entrepreneurs present business ideas to wealthy investors, known as dragons, and seek investment in return for a share of their company.
BBC Two was the BBC channel associated with the programme at launch, and the show became one of the channel’s best-known factual entertainment series. Its straightforward pitch format also made business terminology familiar to a broad television audience.
The programme is sometimes confused with the similarly formatted BBC One show The Apprentice, but the two have different premises. Dragons' Den centres on investment pitches, while The Apprentice focuses on competition between candidates for a business role.
