Five investors normally sit on the main panel of the British TV show Dragons' Den.
The programme presents a row of five businesspeople who listen to entrepreneurs' pitches. Each dragon can question the founder, make an offer, collaborate with another dragon or decide not to invest. The five-seat arrangement gives the format its recognisable visual structure and creates a range of possible opinions.
The exact individuals have changed over the years. The launch-era panel included Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard, while later series introduced investors such as Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis. Guest or replacement dragons can therefore change the names without changing the usual panel size.
The number is sometimes confused with other countries' adaptations or with episodes featuring unusual scheduling. For the standard British format, the canonical panel number is five.
