Noah builds the ark and leads the rescue in the biblical Noah’s Ark story. In Genesis, God warns Noah of an overwhelming flood and instructs him to construct a large vessel for his household and the animals.
Noah is presented as a righteous man who follows the divine instructions. The story identifies his wife, his three sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—and their wives as the human survivors aboard the ark.
Noah is also important elsewhere in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran, although details differ among Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions. The name “Noah” is therefore more specific than answers such as Moses or Abraham, who belong to other biblical narratives.
The ark account appears mainly in Genesis chapters 6–9. It combines the flood, the ark’s landing, Noah’s sacrifice, and a covenant symbolized by the rainbow.
