In the biblical Book of Genesis, Noah built Noah’s Ark.
Genesis presents Noah as a righteous man chosen to survive a divinely sent flood. He is instructed to construct a large vessel, bring aboard his family, and preserve representatives of the animals. The story describes Noah following those instructions before the waters cover the land.
Noah is the ark’s builder in the Hebrew Bible and is also the central human figure in later Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions about the flood. A common mix-up is identifying Noah’s grandfather Methuselah or his ancestor Enoch as the builder; neither is described as constructing the ark.
The name Noah is also used for the flood survivor in the Quran, although the Quranic account does not provide every architectural detail found in Genesis. The ark narrative has influenced religious art, literature, archaeology debates, and modern retellings for centuries.
