Noah built the ark and led his family aboard in the biblical account of Noah’s Ark.
In Genesis, God warns Noah of a coming flood and instructs him to construct a large vessel. Noah, his wife, his sons, and his sons’ wives enter the ark, along with animals and supplies. Genesis presents Noah as the central human figure through whom life is preserved during the catastrophe.
The story appears in Genesis chapters 6–9 and is also connected with later Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions. In the Quran, Noah is called Nūḥ, and the flood story has several related but distinct details.
A common mix-up is identifying Noah as the ark’s only occupant. Genesis names eight human survivors: Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their sons’ wives. The text does not name Noah’s wife or the wives of his sons.
