In the biblical account of Noah’s Ark, Ham is named as one of Noah’s three sons and is traditionally treated as the youngest.
Genesis 5:32 and later chapters list Noah’s sons as Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The Flood narrative identifies all three men as entering the ark with Noah and their wives. Genesis does not explicitly state the birth order in a single sentence, so the youngest-son identification is inferred from the narrative’s age references and traditional interpretation.
Ham is best known in the ark story for an episode after the Flood. Genesis 9 says he sees Noah uncovered and reports it to his brothers, while Shem and Japheth cover their father without looking at him. Noah then pronounces a curse on Canaan, Ham’s son—not directly on Ham.
That detail is frequently misrepresented in later discussions. The text names Canaan as the person cursed, and it does not provide a racial basis for the episode.
