In the BBC television show Dragon's Den, who presented the programme from its 2005 launch?

The story behind the answer

Evan Davis presented the BBC television show Dragon's Den from its 2005 launch.

Davis is an economist, journalist and broadcaster who became familiar to British audiences through BBC news and current-affairs programming. His role on Dragon's Den was to introduce entrepreneurs, explain the investment pitches and guide viewers through the negotiations with the investors.

The programme is based on the Japanese format Money Tigers, known internationally through the Dragon's Den franchise. The presenter is not one of the investors: the entrepreneurs pitch to the panel of businesspeople, while Davis provides the linking narration and interview material.

Davis continued as the show's presenter for many series. This is sometimes confused with the identities of the Dragons, whose membership changed repeatedly over the programme's history. Naming the presenter therefore gives a different answer from naming any member of the investment panel.
