In the BBC television show Dragon's Den, who is the longest-serving original Dragon?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones is the longest-serving original Dragon on the BBC television show Dragon's Den.

Jones has been part of the UK version since its first series in 2005. He is the only investor from the original regular panel to remain a continuous central figure across the programme's long run, although guest and replacement Dragons have appeared many times.

The entrepreneur built interests in technology, media, telecommunications and retail. His investment style on the programme often focuses on ownership percentages, sales evidence and the practical route to growth rather than simply the novelty of a product.

The word “original” matters here because several well-known Dragons joined later. Deborah Meaden entered the panel in the third series, while Theo Paphitis and Duncan Bannatyne were early but not permanent members. Peter Jones is also associated with the US version, American Inventor, but his Dragon's Den role is his best-known television position.
