Peter Jones is the only original dragon to have appeared continuously since the UK television show Dragon's Den began.
Jones joined the original investment panel when the British version launched in 2005. The first line-up also included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard, but those other original investors eventually left the programme.
His long tenure made Jones a constant presence as the panel changed around him. He is especially associated with technology, retail, telecommunications and consumer businesses, although entrepreneurs on the show have pitched companies from many sectors.
The phrase “original dragon” refers to the investors in the first British series, not every investor who later joined the format internationally. Peter Jones has also built businesses outside television, including ventures connected with mobile phones, computers and leisure.
