Peter Jones is the only original Dragon still on the panel of the BBC television series Dragon's Den.
Jones joined the original investor lineup when the British version began in 2005. The other initial Dragons included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Peter Jones. As the programme developed, investors left and new Dragons took their places, but Jones remained a constant presence.
His business interests have included mobile phones, technology, leisure and property. On the programme, he is often associated with detailed questioning about valuation, margins and the entrepreneur's ability to grow a business. His height and formal style have also made him one of the show's most recognizable figures.
“Original Dragon” refers to membership of the first British panel, not to being the first investor in the international franchise. The panel has had many notable members, including Deborah Meaden, Theo Paphitis and Sara Davies, but continuity distinguishes Jones from the rest of the original lineup.
