In the BBC television series Dragon's Den, which entrepreneur presented the programme from its 2005 launch until 2013?

The story behind the answer

Evan Davis presented the BBC television series Dragon's Den from its launch in 2005 until 2013.

Davis is a British economist, journalist and broadcaster who became familiar to audiences through BBC business and current-affairs programmes. His role on Dragon's Den was to introduce each pitch, explain the investment terms and guide viewers through the negotiations.

He was succeeded as presenter by the comedian and broadcaster Sarah Cave, who presented the programme from 2013. The Dragons themselves are the investors seated before the entrepreneurs; the presenter is not one of the investors.

Dragon's Den is the British version of a format that originated in Japan. Its central premise is that entrepreneurs ask for investment in exchange for an ownership stake in their businesses.
