In the BBC television series Dragon's Den, which broadcaster first aired the UK version in 2005?

The story behind the answer

The UK version of Dragon's Den first aired on BBC Two in 2005.

The programme debuted on 4 January 2005, adapting an international business-pitch format for British television. Entrepreneurs enter a studio and present their companies to a panel of wealthy investors, who decide whether to offer their own money in exchange for equity.

BBC Two was the BBC channel associated with the show's launch and remains its principal British home. This is sometimes confused with BBC One because the programme became a major mainstream hit, but its original and continuing channel identity is BBC Two.

The format was not invented in Britain: the UK series was adapted from the Japanese programme Money Tigers. Its success led to versions in many countries, including Canada, Australia and Ireland.
