In the BBC television series Dragon's Den, which British broadcaster has presented the show since its launch in 2005?

The story behind the answer

Evan Davis has presented the BBC television series Dragon's Den since its launch in 2005.

Davis is a British economist, journalist and broadcaster who became familiar to television audiences through BBC news and business programming. His role on Dragon's Den is to introduce the entrepreneurs, explain the pitch setting and guide viewers through the negotiations.

The presenter is not one of the investors, or “Dragons.” That distinction is an occasional source of confusion because Davis is present throughout the pitch and often asks clarifying questions. The entrepreneurs must address the investors directly when seeking money for an equity stake.

Dragon's Den is the British version of an international format in which business owners present ideas to wealthy investors. Although the panel has changed repeatedly, Davis has remained the programme's recognizable host. He later also presented other BBC programmes, including The Bottom Line and Newsnight, while continuing his connection with the show.
