In the BBC television programme Dragon's Den, which entrepreneur has appeared as a dragon since the UK series began?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones has appeared as a dragon since the UK series Dragon's Den began.

Jones is a British entrepreneur and investor whose businesses have included interests in technology, telecommunications, retail and leisure. He joined the original UK investment panel when the programme launched in 2005 and became its only original dragon to remain continuously involved across the main run.

His on-screen approach is closely associated with questions about sales, margins, valuation and the practical work needed to scale a company. He has also made investments in businesses presented on the programme, although television appearances do not mean that every pitch receives funding.

Several other notable dragons have served on the panel, including Duncan Bannatyne, Deborah Meaden, Theo Paphitis and James Caan. Their departures can make the word “original” ambiguous, but Peter Jones is the enduring original panel member.
