In the BBC show Dragons' Den, which Dragon was the founder of Amstrad?

The story behind the answer

Alan Sugar was the founder of Amstrad and later appeared as a Dragon on the BBC show Dragons' Den.

Sugar established Amstrad in 1968. The company name came from his initials, A.M.S., and the word “trading.” Amstrad first became known for affordable consumer electronics and later entered the home-computer market, including the Amstrad CPC range and products associated with the Sinclair brand.

Sugar joined Dragons' Den as a Dragon in the programme's early history and became one of its most recognisable investors. He was already a major business figure before his television career, so the show did not create his connection with Amstrad.

Amstrad is sometimes confused with Sugar's later media and football interests. The relevant fact is that he founded the electronics company, while his role on Dragons' Den was a separate television position. He also presented The Apprentice, another programme with which he is strongly associated.
