Shaun Pulfrey created the Tangle Teezer hairbrush featured in the BBC series Dragons' Den.
Pulfrey developed the product after working as a hairdresser and identifying a problem with detangling hair. The Tangle Teezer uses a distinctive arrangement of flexible teeth intended to separate tangles while reducing pulling. Pulfrey presented the invention on Dragons' Den, but the appearance did not produce an investment deal from the panel.
The business later grew substantially, making the pitch a frequently remembered example of a company that succeeded despite leaving the den without a dragon's backing. That outcome is an important part of the story: appearing on the programme does not guarantee investment, and entrepreneurs can still build successful companies afterward.
Tangle Teezer is sometimes confused with other beauty products pitched on the show. Its creator, however, is specifically Shaun Pulfrey, whose original product was a detangling hairbrush rather than a cosmetic formula.
