Peter Jones has appeared as a Dragon on Dragons' Den since the programme’s first series in 2005.
Jones is a British entrepreneur and investor who became one of the original investors on the BBC version of the format. He is the only current Dragon from the original regular panel and is widely associated with the programme’s long-running business-investment format.
The first British series featured Jones alongside Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe. The panel has changed substantially over the years, which can make the show’s original lineup easy to confuse with later versions. Theo Paphitis, Deborah Meaden and Touker Suleyman all joined in later periods.
Dragons' Den gives entrepreneurs a short presentation in which they request investment in exchange for equity. The Dragons can make offers, negotiate together or decline to invest. Jones’s continuous presence makes him a useful reference point when tracing the programme’s history from its 2005 launch.
