In the Assassin’s Creed series, what is the name of the secretive order opposing the Templars?

The Assassin Brotherhood is the secretive order that opposes the Templars throughout the Assassin’s Creed series.

The Brotherhood is built around the idea that humanity should retain freedom of choice. Its members work from the shadows, gathering intelligence and eliminating individuals they believe are using power to impose control. The series presents the conflict as an ideological struggle rather than a simple battle between heroes and villains.

The Brotherhood has different names and forms across historical periods. In Assassin’s Creed Origins, the early organization is called the Hidden Ones. Later games show the development of the movement into the Assassin Brotherhood familiar from the stories of Altaïr, Ezio, and other protagonists.

The Templars generally seek order and control, though individual characters and factions complicate that contrast. The Brotherhood’s famous principles include staying one’s blade, hiding in plain sight, and never compromising the Brotherhood.
