In The World Is Not Enough, James Bond uses a BMW Z8 as an armed roadster.
The car is supplied by Q and is fitted with hidden weapons, including surface-to-air missiles and machine guns. Bond drives it during the Azerbaijan sequences, where its combination of open-top styling and concealed armament makes it one of the film’s most memorable vehicles.
The BMW Z8 was a retro-styled two-seat roadster introduced for the 2000 model year, although production examples were built from 1999 to 2003. Its design echoed the classic BMW 507, especially in its kidney grille, side vents, and restrained body shape.
The Z8 is often confused with the BMW Z3, which Bond drove in GoldenEye. The Z3 was smaller and appeared earlier, while the Z8 was more powerful and featured prominently in The World Is Not Enough. The film was released in 1999 and starred Pierce Brosnan as Bond.
