In Tomorrow Never Dies, James Bond rides a BMW R1200C motorcycle with Wai Lin.
The motorcycle features in the escape through Saigon, where Bond and Wai Lin travel together while being pursued by henchmen. Its low-slung cruiser styling made it visually different from the sport motorcycles usually associated with high-speed action scenes.
The BMW R1200C was introduced in the late 1990s as BMW Motorrad’s first production cruiser. It used a horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine, a layout long associated with BMW motorcycles. The film helped give the model international visibility soon after its introduction.
The motorcycle should not be confused with the remote-controlled BMW 750iL, another BMW vehicle in Tomorrow Never Dies. The car is used in the parking-garage sequence; the R1200C is the motorcycle used by Bond and Wai Lin.
