In the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, Bond drives a BMW 750iL in the Hamburg car park.
The black BMW is supplied by Q Branch and becomes the centre of a lengthy remote-control chase. Bond operates it with a mobile phone while sitting in the back seat, using the car’s controls to evade attackers in the parking structure.
The film’s car is a 750iL, the long-wheelbase version of BMW’s E38 7 Series. Although the movie features substantial vehicle damage, the production used multiple cars and modified examples for the action scenes. The BMW motorcycle ridden later by Bond and Wai Lin is a separate vehicle, so the sedan should not be confused with that sequence.
Tomorrow Never Dies was Pierce Brosnan’s second Bond film and was released in December 1997.
