In the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye, Bond receives a BMW Z3 in Monte Carlo.
Q presents the car to Bond during the film’s Monte Carlo sequence. The roadster is fitted with fictional spy equipment, including stinger missiles and a parachute braking system, although its screen time is brief.
The BMW Z3 was an important product for BMW because it became the company’s first mass-produced roadster. Its Bond appearance also marked BMW’s first major partnership with the film series, preceding the BMW 750iL in Tomorrow Never Dies and the BMW Z8 in The World Is Not Enough.
Viewers sometimes confuse the Z3 with the Z8 because both are two-seat BMW sports cars associated with Bond. The Z3 belongs to GoldenEye, released in 1995, while the Z8 appears in the 1999 film The World Is Not Enough.
