In 'Survivor', contestants vote at a ceremony called Tribal Council.
Tribal Council is where a tribe meets with host Jeff Probst, discusses its recent events, and privately casts votes to eliminate one of its members. After the votes are read, the contestant with the most votes leaves the game and usually has their torch extinguished.
The ceremony is more than a simple elimination vote. It gives contestants a chance to explain strategy, expose alliances, and answer questions from the host. Later in a season, the eliminated players may form the jury that chooses the eventual winner.
The name comes from the show's island-survival theme and remains in use even after tribes merge into one group. It should not be confused with the Final Tribal Council, where finalists address the jury and compete for the winning vote.
