In Super Metroid, what space colony receives the Metroid larva for study?
Answer
Ceres space colony
Answer
Ceres space colony
In Super Metroid, the space colony that receives the Metroid larva for study is the Ceres space colony.
After Samus completes her mission on SR388, she spares the last surviving Metroid and delivers it to scientists at Ceres. Their research finds that Metroids can generate energy, suggesting a peaceful and potentially beneficial use for the species rather than the biological weapon applications pursued by the Space Pirates.
The discovery is short-lived. Soon after Samus leaves, she receives a distress signal and returns to find the colony’s scientists dead. Ridley, leader of the Space Pirates, steals the larva and escapes toward Zebes while Ceres begins its self-destruct sequence. Samus survives and follows him, starting the main adventure.
Ceres is easy to confuse with Zebes, the planet where most of the game takes place, or SR388, the Metroid homeworld visited in the preceding game. The other options are locations from different Metroid stories: B.S.L. belongs to Metroid Fusion, GFS Valhalla to Metroid Prime 3, and the Bottle Ship to Metroid: Other M.
