In Stranger Things season 4, the Hellfire Club’s dungeon master is Eddie Munson. Eddie is the eccentric president of Hawkins High’s Dungeons & Dragons club, where he leads campaigns for Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, and Erica Sinclair.
Eddie’s role as dungeon master explains why he narrates the club’s elaborate fantasy battles and recognizes the danger posed by Vecna. The group borrows the name “Vecna” from the Dungeons & Dragons villain, using the game’s mythology to understand the supernatural enemy attacking Hawkins.
Eddie is played by Joseph Quinn and becomes one of season 4’s central new characters. He is wrongly blamed for Chrissy Cunningham’s death and becomes the target of a satanic-panic-style manhunt. His final campaign is his real-life fight in the Upside Down, where he plays Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” to distract the demobats and protect his friends.
A common mix-up is confusing Eddie’s role with Lucas’s or Dustin’s. Eddie is not merely a club member: he is the Hellfire Club’s leader and dungeon master.
