In Star Trek: The Search for Spock, Spock is reborn on the planet Genesis.
Genesis is an artificial world created by the Genesis Device, the terraforming technology introduced in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. The device rapidly transforms a barren body into a life-supporting environment, but its effects are unstable when used on the previously damaged Genesis planet.
After Spock’s death aboard the USS Enterprise, his katra, or spirit, is transferred to Dr. Leonard McCoy. Spock’s regenerated body is found on Genesis, where the planet’s accelerated evolution causes him to age rapidly from childhood toward adulthood.
The film was released in 1984 and was directed by Leonard Nimoy, who also played Spock. Genesis is sometimes confused with Vulcan because Vulcan is Spock’s homeworld, but the character’s physical rebirth occurs on the newly formed planet Genesis.
