In Star Trek: The Motion Picture, who played Commander Willard Decker?
Answer
Stephen Collins
Answer
Stephen Collins
Stephen Collins played Commander Willard Decker in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Decker is the Enterprise’s newly assigned executive officer when Admiral James T. Kirk takes command of the refitted starship. He previously served as captain of the vessel and initially resents Kirk’s decision to remove him from that position.
The character becomes central to the film’s investigation of V’Ger, a vast entity approaching Earth. Decker’s knowledge of the Enterprise and his developing connection with the Ilia probe give him an important role as the crew tries to understand the entity’s purpose.
Stephen Collins’s Decker is sometimes confused with other original-series characters because the film reunites the television cast while adding several new roles. The Motion Picture was released in 1979 and marked the franchise’s first feature film.
