Shinzon is the Romulan-created clone of Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis.
Shinzon was created by the Romulans as part of a plan involving infiltration and political manipulation. Instead of becoming a replacement for Picard, he was sent to Remus, where he grew up among the oppressed Remans and eventually became their leader.
In the film, Shinzon has taken control of the Romulan government after a coup. His connection to Picard creates both a personal and political conflict, while his deteriorating health motivates his search for a way to survive.
Shinzon is played by Tom Hardy, who later became widely known for other film roles. Nemesis also introduces the android B-4, an earlier Soong-type android whose identity is separate from Shinzon. The film was released in 2002 and is the final theatrical film centered on the Next Generation crew.
