In 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse', which character is voiced by John Mulaney?

The story behind the answer

In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, John Mulaney voices Spider-Ham, also known as Peter Porker. He is the film’s cartoon-inspired, animal-based Spider-Person.

Spider-Ham comes from a universe where familiar Marvel characters appear as anthropomorphic animals. In his backstory, Peter Porker was originally a spider who was bitten by a radioactive pig, transforming him into a cartoon pig with Spider-Man-like abilities. The film plays with classic animation traditions through his squash-and-stretch movement, visual gags and rapid-fire jokes.

Spider-Ham enters Miles Morales’s dimension after the collider begins bringing Spider-People from alternate realities together. Although he looks comedic, he can fight alongside the other heroes and uses web-slinging, agility and cartoon-style resilience against Kingpin’s forces.

A common mix-up is Spider-Man Noir, who is voiced by Nicolas Cage, or Peni Parker, who is voiced by Kimiko Glenn. John Mulaney’s role is specifically Spider-Ham. He also reprised the character in the 2019 animated short Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham.
