In "RoboCop" (1987), what is the human name of the police officer who becomes RoboCop?

The story behind the answer

In "RoboCop" (1987), the police officer who becomes RoboCop is Alex Murphy.

Murphy is a Detroit police officer murdered by Clarence Boddicker’s gang while investigating organized crime. Omni Consumer Products then uses his body for the RoboCop program, preserving his brain, face, and parts of his nervous system inside a heavily armored cybernetic body.

Peter Weller is the actor who plays Murphy and RoboCop, not the character’s name. Clarence Boddicker is the criminal responsible for Murphy’s death, while John Spartan belongs to a different science-fiction film, "Demolition Man" (1993). The character is also commonly identified by his fuller name, Alex James Murphy, although "Alex Murphy" is the canonical and sufficient answer for the 1987 film.

As RoboCop gradually recovers fragments of his former identity, his personal memories begin to conflict with OCP’s attempt to redefine him as a purely programmed law-enforcement machine.
