In Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, the farmer who keeps cider apples is Farmer Bean.
Bean is one of the three farmers who try to catch Mr. Fox after the fox raids their farms. He is associated with cider apples and is described as thin, clever, and unusually dangerous. The farmers join forces, but their efforts to trap the fox repeatedly fail.
The other two farmers are Boggis and Bunce. Boggis is known for chickens, while Bunce raises turkeys and geese. Their distinct farm products make the trio easier to tell apart and help drive the comic pattern of the story.
The 1970 book was later adapted into a stop-motion film directed by Wes Anderson. The film retains the three farmer names but expands the story and visual world beyond Dahl’s original short novel.
