The assassin group led by O-Ren Ishii in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Volume 1 is the Crazy 88.
The group serves as O-Ren’s personal army and confronts the Bride during the climactic battle at the House of Blue Leaves in Tokyo. The sequence is famous for its large-scale sword fight, rapid choreography, and stylized shifts between color and black-and-white photography.
O-Ren is one of the former members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, the group that betrayed the Bride at her wedding rehearsal. The Crazy 88 are separate from that five-member elite squad.
The group’s name is often written as “Crazy 88” rather than “The Crazy 88.” The name refers to the many suited fighters who work for O-Ren, not to the Deadly Viper group itself.
