In Princess Mononoke, what is the name of the leader of Iron Town?

The story behind the answer

In Princess Mononoke, the leader of Iron Town is Lady Eboshi.

Lady Eboshi governs Iron Town, a settlement whose furnaces produce iron by cutting timber and mining the surrounding land. Her industrial expansion brings the town into conflict with the forest gods, especially the animal clans whose habitat is being destroyed. She is also responsible for shooting Nago, the boar god whose hatred and wounds lead to Ashitaka's curse.

Eboshi is more complicated than a conventional villain. She protects former prostitutes and people affected by leprosy, giving them work and dignity inside her community. The women of Iron Town operate the bellows and help manufacture firearms, making the settlement unusually independent and egalitarian for the film's Muromachi-period setting.

San, called Princess Mononoke by the townspeople, opposes Eboshi because of her attack on the forest. Jigo is a wandering monk and mercenary, Moro is the wolf goddess who raised San, and Ashitaka is the exiled Emishi prince. Eboshi's leadership ultimately survives the film, and she promises to rebuild Iron Town more responsibly.
