Pokémon Pokopia takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of the Kanto region.
The story presents a world abandoned by humans and initially unsuitable for Pokémon. Ditto awakens in this damaged environment and begins restoring habitats so Pokémon populations can recover. This gives the familiar Kanto setting a very different appearance from its role in the original Pokémon games.
Kanto is the region introduced in Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, and it is associated with locations such as Pallet Town, Viridian City, and the Pokémon League. Pokopia does not simply retell those games’ journey; it reimagines the region as a place requiring ecological and social reconstruction.
Players may confuse the setting with another Pokémon region because the roster includes Pokémon from Generations I through IX. However, the game’s stated story location is specifically post-apocalyptic Kanto.
