In Pokémon lore, which region contains Pallet Town?

The story behind the answer

Kanto is the Pokémon region that contains Pallet Town.

Pallet Town is the hometown of Ash Ketchum in the original anime and the starting point for the player character in Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow. Professor Oak’s laboratory is located there, and the player receives a first Pokémon before beginning the journey through Kanto.

Kanto was the setting for the franchise’s first generation. Its major locations include Viridian City, Pewter City, Cerulean City, Vermilion City, Celadon City, Fuchsia City, Saffron City, Cinnabar Island, and the Pokémon League. The region’s name is based on the real-world Kantō region of Japan.

Players sometimes confuse Kanto with Johto because the two regions are geographically connected and can both be explored in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Johto is the neighboring region introduced in Generation II, while Kanto is the original region from the first games.
